Bioacoustics conference 2026 - Conference program
The conference will take place on October 11–12, 2026, at the Carmel Campus of the University of Haifa. The first day will include scientific talks and poster presentations. The second day will feature a combination of scientific talks and hands-on practical sessions, including round tables on field recording techniques and acoustic data analysis.

Round tables topics – subject to changes
These interactive sessions bring together researchers and practitioners to explore core pillars of bioacoustics research. Each round table will open with a brief presentation introducing the topic, followed by an open discussion on the practical challenges researchers face in the field and in the lab. Participants will share experiences, troubleshoot common obstacles, and work together toward practical recommendations and best practices that attendees can apply directly in their own research
- Noise pollution detection and mitigation – A working group addressing the real-world challenges of noise pollution in Israel, aimed at producing a joint recommendations document
- Best practice in bioacoustics data collection – An open discussion on field and lab methodology, offering practical recommendations and best practices for early-career scientists.
- Animal communication and behavior – An open discussion on the complexities of studying animal communication, exploring research approaches and challenges through real-world examples.
- Environmental acoustic monitoring – KKL – A working group focused on the state and future of environmental acoustic monitoring in Israel.
- BirdNet practical workshop – A hands-on session building on the morning introduction, applying the BirdNET software to real-life examples.
