Introduction to the university of Haifa
The University of Haifa is a public research university located on the picturesque Mount Carmel in Haifa, Israel. Founded in 1963 and gaining full academic independence in 1972, it became Israel’s sixth academic institution. The campus itself is breathtaking, spreading along the Carmel Mountain ridge and surrounded by the Carmel National Park. Home to the largest university library in Israel and enrolling approximately 18,000 students (as of 2019), the university is notably diverse, boasting the largest percentage (41%) of Arab-Israeli students among Israeli higher education institutions. The campus is also easily accessible, serviced by versatile public transportation options, including numerous bus routes and a unique cable car, providing direct links to all central inter-city bus and train stations in Haifa.
The Hatter Student Building
The conference will take place at the main hall on floor 0 of the Hatter student building.
Parking
Conference participants will have access to the university with their cars. Please note that the conference is taking place at the beginning of the academic year, when parking spaces will be limited, so we recommend arriving early or via public transportation.
Recommended parking:
Entering via Haifa Gate, marked in red:
Park in the Eshkol Building parking lot or along the scenic route.
Walk to the Student Building and enter on Level 4.
Take the elevator down to Level 0.
Entering via Carmel Gate, marked in purple:
Park in the Multipurpose parking lot.
Walk across the main lawn toward the outside staircase.
Walk down the stairs and enter the Student Building on Level -1.
Take the stairs or elevator up to Level 0.
Follow directional signs along the way.

“Rachbalit” – Cable Car
Launched in 2022, the “Rachbalit” cable car connects UHaifa with the Technion and the Lev-Hamifratz central train/bus station. Covering a total distance of 4.4 kilometers with an elevation gain of 460 meters, and has become a major city tourist attraction and fascinating means of public transportation for students. It is situated on campus next to the Haifa Gate entrance.
“Metronit”
The “Metronit” is a bus rapid transit system in Haifa with routes in Haifa and the Krayot (suburbs). It has 3 Lines: 1(Red Line), 2 (Blue Line), 3 (Green Line). It can be accessed only with a pre-charged charged “Rav Kav” card. For further information: http://www.dannorth.co.il/?lang=en
“Carmelit”
The Carmelit is an underground funicular railway. It moves from Carmel Center, through Hadar, to downtown Haifa.

Trains
There are three main railway stations in Haifa:
Hof HaCarmel Central Bus Station near the beach at the southern entrance of Haifa
Bat-Galim located by the old bus station
Mercaz HaShmona located downtown

Shared Taxi (Sherut)
Sherut taxis are mini-vans that run along major bus routes in Haifa with a sign on the windshield with the number of the bus route that it follows, which can be stopped along the way (not necessarily at a bus stop). These are slightly cheaper and faster than a regular bus.

Sherut to other cities: Sherut services to Tel Aviv leave regularly, including Saturdays, from Hechalutz St. in Hadar , via Amal.
Sherut taxis to Acco, Nahariya, Carmiel, and Tiberias exit from Sidon Street off Neviim Street in Hadar.
